Help and Legal Centre to Raise Funds for Poverty Awareness at the 10th Annual Empty Bowls Dinner and Auction

Cobourg, ON, March 27, 2019 – On Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Rosewood Estates in Cobourg, the Help and Legal Centre of Northumberland will be holding its tenth annual Empty Bowls Fundraising Dinner, which aims to raise awareness about the impact of poverty within the local community over a bowl of soup and conversations with friends.

Guests will enjoy a selection of appetizers, artisanal soups and desserts prepared by Rosewood’s renowned chef, Peter Gosling, and will have the opportunity to bid on various auction items that include jewelry, electronics, gift cards and services from local businesses as well as a generous travel voucher from VIA Rail. This year’s event will also feature musical performances by local musicians Don Owen and Bruce Longman.

Each guest will also take home a handcrafted bowl donated by Dragon Clay Pottery and the Northumberland Potters, with the empty bowl acting as a reminder that there are many who regularly go without in Northumberland.

“This event is a fantastic way to support local efforts to eliminate poverty,” says Beth Bellaire, the Chair of the Board. “The Empty Bowls Fundraising Dinner is our largest annual fundraiser. We are confident that with the continued support of Rosewood Estates, Dragon Clay Pottery and the Northumberland Potters, and many other local businesses that this will be our best year yet,” continues Bellaire. “The event always proves to be an entertaining and heartwarming evening that helps us meet the ongoing demand for services to support those living in poverty in our community.”

Tickets for the Empty Bowls Fundraising Dinner are available for $50 each at Holton Flowers in Port Hope, All Creatures Great and Small in Cobourg and the Centreton Library in Centreton.
