The Help Centre provides newcomers with unique English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. Our holistic goal is to help our adult learners to integrate into their new community, and the teaching of English is a means to this goal.

We offer newcomers:

• An ESL Facilitator, who is sensitive to the learners’ particular emotional struggles. Our ESL Facilitator prepares daily classes and outdoor activities, where our learners are able to improve their English language skills and also learn more about their new community and country.
• A Group Of Unique And Dedicated Volunteers, who help our learners every day in class. Our volunteers enthusiasm, interest, passion to assist our learners is priceless.
• Classes From Tuesday To Thursday at The Help Centre (1005 Elgin St. Suite 301, Cobourg) from 9:30 to 12:00 noon. All newcomers are welcome. We have learners from all over the world who have varying levels English language skills.
• External Activities including visits to places around Northumberland County for newcomers to experience the wonderful area, and learn more about important, dates, places, culture and traditions.

Our ESL Facilitator will perform an English language assessment for each learner to determine the level of English language of each learner; and to set individual goals and interests for the class.
