ONTARIO ELECTRICITY SUPPORT PROGRAM

If you are a customer of an electricity utility and in a lower-income home, you may qualify for a reduction on your electricity bill. The program is available to all low-income customers who have accounts with electric utilities, unit sub-meter providers and retail energy companies. The OESP will reduce the cost of your household electricity by applying a monthly credit directly to your bill. The credit amount will depend on how many people live in your home and your combined household income.

Applications take about 6 to 8 weeks to process. Credits don’t take effect until you submit all required information and your application is processed. The credit is applied to your utility bill as soon as possible after your application has been approved.

Credits are not applied retroactively to January 1, 2016, but all eligible customers will receive on-bill credits for two years regardless of when a customer applies and their credits begin.
