  • One study found that approximately 90 per cent of transgender and gender-variant employees reported experiencing workplace harassment or violence stemming from their gender identity and expression.[iv] Approximately 47 per cent of LGBTQ2+ workers have experienced workplace harassment or violence based on their sexual orientation.
  • The percentage of sexually harassed girls in the workplace is significantly higher than the figures reported in most studies of working women. Girls who were sexually harassed were less satisfied with their jobs and supervisors, had higher levels of academic withdrawal, and were more apt to miss school than their non-harassed peers. If you are being sexually harassed at work, contact The Northumberland Community Legal Centre for free and confidential assistance and advice at 1-800-850-7882 or (905) 373-4464 (Youth at work: Adolescent Employment and Sexual Harassment Susan Fineran University of Southern Maine, sfineran@maine.edu James E.
