The OIPRD is an arms-length agency of the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, staffed entirely by civilians. Complaints can be done online, by mail, fax, or in person. Police stations must accept complaints at the time they are submitted. Complaints handed into police stations will be forwarded to OIPRD within 3 days.

Complaints must be made within 6 months of the incident.

The OIPRD will only accept complaints for incidents that occurred after Oct 19/09. For incidents prior to this date you can still file with the Ontario Civilian Police Commission (see below).
