It is shocking that 52% of women in the Canadian workforce report having experienced sexual harassment at some time during their career and 75% of them failed to report the incident to their employers according to a recent Angus Reid survey! Of those who reported an incident of sexual harassment, only 10% were satisfied by the response they received from their employers.

Clearly, a lot of work needs to be done to educate employees and employers about sexual harassment in the workplace – both how to prevent it from happening and what to do if it does.

The Northumberland Legal Centre is pleased to announce that we have received funding from the federal Department of Justice for the next 5 years to provide public legal education to employers and employees about how to deal with workplace sexual harassment including free and confidential advice to victims of SHIW.
