On behalf of The Help and Legal Centre of Northumberland, I’d like to thank you for your support of our 13th Annual Golf Tournament fundraiser held at Shelter Valley Pines Golf Club on September 12, 2023. Thanks to the generous support from people like you, we raised over $16 700 – the best results yet!

This means you have made it possible for us to help more families find and keep better housing, keep the heat and electricity on, access legal services, organize finances more effectively, and generally better manage their everyday needs. For example, with this money, we could make sure 100 seniors are able to file their income tax returns, six newcomers could attend class twice a week for eight weeks, 10 injured workers could be represented at an appeal of a negative decision by the Canada Pension Plan, another 20 clients could be represented at a Social Benefits Tribunal, and a final 20 clients could be interviewed for a will.

Once again, the weather cooperated – after a brief threat, the skies brightened and the sun even peeked out. And such beautiful fairways and greens! Everyone’s spirits were high which once again helped to make the event a huge success. We hope all participants enjoyed the camaraderie, lunch, auction, prizes, gorgeous scenery and hospitality that Shelter Valley Pines Golf Club offers. We had a great turnout of golfers: many of you have golfed and/or supported this event for several years – some for all thirteen tournaments – and we sincerely thank you for continuing to support us.

Your generosity has made a tremendous difference to our clients, and we are so appreciative of your support; it helps us to meet the growing demand for service, and provide programs that serve the low-income residents of Northumberland County.
